1996 Blackadder Raw Cask Lochranza (Arran) 23 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Established 1995, Blackadder is a family-run company started by Robin Tucek and John Lamond, and named after historic Scottish Bishop, John Blackadder. Before he was bottling malts, Robin was a music journalist and interviewed the likes of Rod Stewart and ABBA. But whisky struck a different chord with him, and after forays in beverage PR, Robin founded Blackadder. Consistently looking to evolve and progress, his label has become synonymous with pure, raw whisky that refuses to cut corners and bottles the majority of its whiskies as single cask and most at cask strength. Even the barrel sediment is retained, such is the emphasis on purity.
Going by the name of 'Lochranza Distillery', after the town in which it's located, this venerable Arran was distilled on the 8th of August 1996 and matured in sherry butt 932. It was bottled in November 2019 at natural cask strength of 52.2% as a limited single cask release of 577 bottles. We recommend adding a little water to release its full flavour.
