2019 Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache

A blend of 78% Shiraz and 22% Grenache sourced from vines between 50 to 100 years old. The Shiraz component which is matured for 16 months in 2-3 year old French (80%) and American oak (20%) barrels lends backbone, flesh and body to the wine. Whilst the Grenache which sees no oak contact brings a soft, vibrant juiciness.
Dense inky black in colour with a deep bright dark red purple hue. Alluring scents of blackberry, liquorice and dark raspberry are more than ample in their intensity out of the glass with some following vanillin oak and spice notes. Rich dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry fruits possess both freshness and succulence. Notions of spicy vanillin oak, subtle infusions of fresh herbs and light pepper also make an appearance. Velvety tannins with a long juicy finish that has an energetic feel to it.
