Hellyers Road Distillery Port Cask Matured Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)

A limited edition non-chill filtered whisky that was matured in French oak which previously contained Australian port wine. Only 437 bottles released.

Tasting note: Impressive polished copper colour. Flawless clarity. Opens gently prickly with a compelling stone fruit bouquet (think fresh plum, nectarine, apricot) followed by hints of fruity dark chocolate and sweet spice, losing no intensity or definition after several minutes exposure. Light entry builds at the mid palate stage where the characteristics on the nose are partly retained but in a fruit'n'nut dark chocolate kind of way. Excellent balance. Stone fruits repeat with a subtle bittersweetness at the finish and light vanilla / caramel in the fade. Easily the best Hellyer's bottling to date. Worth seeking out. 48.9% Alc./Vol.
