Tasmania, AUSTRALIA
$260. 00

$3120.00 Dozen
ABV: 53%
Named after the eighty foot cascade on the Clyde River in Scotland, Corra Linn was established in 2016 in Relbia by John Wielstra. This is a no expense spared operation that prides itself in precision, small batch production. The still was commissioned from a Chinese maker - a hybrid with a 2000 litre pot, two fractioning columns plus a third rectifying column with twenty trays – a serious piece of equipment and the first of its kind in Tasmania (Wielstra can control it from his mobile phone!)

The still house is also a fully equipped brewing facility. Tasmanian Westminster and Macquarie barley, grown and developed by Professor Zhou of the University of Tasmania make up the mash bill. Port and sherry barrels are refashioned by Tasmanian coopers, charred to specification. Cask strength, these are single cask bottlings, so alcohols may vary from batch to batch.
Very small allocation available.

Tasting note: [10ml sample] Pale gold. Slightly tart opening sniffs. Semi ripe blackberries? Sponge cake? A touch of unripe stone fruits? Slightly sweeter after air contact adding hints of vanilla and chocolate box. A similar theme on the palate: unripe stone fruits (especially nectarine or feijoa) followed by a finish reminiscent of Moscato grappa. Excellent balance. Easily one of the most distinctive Tassie whiskies to date. 53% Alc./Vol.
