Tasting note: [Batch BR08] Loch have created what is reportedly a world first: three distinctly different single malts from distinctly different ales, all made on the same premises. Each whisky is intended to pair with Loch's matching ales. This release was distilled from Loch's 'County Ale malt' and aged in ex-Apera (Australian Sherry) European oak barrels. It's a little sweeter on the nose than the Tawny cask version offering attractive aromas of biscotti, wild honey and dark chocolate. There's a good sherry feel to the delivery with baking spices, dried fruits (prunes, apricots) and nutty malt carrying the mildly tannic finish. 45.5% Alc./Vol.
