Mastroberardino is one of the leading wineries and wine families in all of Italy! This is a single family with a winemaking history which dates back to the early 18th century, and which is largely responsible for the viticultural success of Campania's remote Irpinia area. The family first established itself in the town of Atripalda, some 30 km from Naples in the shadow of the infamous Mt. Vesuvius. Since then, ten generations have cultivated the neighboring land, maintaining their hard fought mission to protect the indigenous varieties and winemaking traditions native to Campania.

First produced in 1986, the Radici Taurasi Riserva is the result of painstaking research into the chemical and physical characteristics of the Montemarano vineyard. The idea was to fully understand the environment in which the roots (or "radici" in Italian) grow.
This wine is made from 100% Aglianico grapes and is aged in oak for 30 months, with an additional aging of 42 months in the bottle to give it a refined and elegant character.

Other Reviews....
Sink into this as if it were a huge, velvet sofa. I love the bright-fruit, earth, milk-chocolate and herb-liqueur character on the nose. Great balance on the full-bodied, mellow palate, where the tannins are now beautifully integrated. Long, bright finish. Drink or hold.
