2016 Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay

Shaw & Smith’s M3 is one of Adelaide Hills most renown and consistent Chardonnays. They typically show elegance, restraint, bright acidity and a generosity of flavour in their youth that gives them an ability to age well. Sourced predominately from Shaw & Smith’s Lenswood vineyard the wine was fermented and matured on lees in French oak barriques and puncheons.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a light glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Scented aromatics of white peaches, nectarine and subtle dried honey laced with gun flint characters rise from the glass followed by roasted almond, citrusy nougat and spice notes. Rich yet refined with an understated creaminess to the mouthfeel, the palate is generously flavoured with white fleshy peaches, nectarines and dried honey over citrusy nougat characters, biscuity oak and faint gun flint. Finishes with good balanced freshness and a long aftertaste of fleshy white peach, dried honey, citrusy nougat, biscuity oak and subtle notions of gun flint.
