2019 All Saints Estate Pierre
A blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc aged for 24 months in French oak (30% new). Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Splendid red to black currant, ripe mulberry and subtle liquorice scents sail from the glass. Ensuing are vanillin cedar, light tobacco, dried herb and spice notes. Medium bodied there’s a real generosity of fruit to the palate with ripe blackcurrant and red liquorice flavours leading the way over spicy vanillin cedar, earth and mint characters. Fine grained tannins with a long refined yet generous finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years

Other Reviews…..
48/48/4% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc. Picked, fermented separately in old, open-top concrete vats, basket pressed, matured 14 months in French oak (10% new). A wine to honour the memory of Peter Brown, who loved a good bordeaux. The aroma, as always, is lifted and aromatic, thanks to merlot in large part, in violet, rose petal, musk and spicy black and red fruits. So smooth, so seamless on the palate and elegant. Excellent balance for one still so young, augering well for a long life, which it will definitely enjoy. Drink by 2031.
