Edradour 12 Year Old Port Wood Finish Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (500ml)
Edradour remains Scotland's smallest distillery with the whisky hand made by just three men. The operation has the required minimum of two stills and uses mostly traditional equipment such as worm tubs to cool the spirit and the last 'Morton's refrigerator' operating in the industry to cool the wort. The equipment has remained unchanged despite being barely capable of any commercial quantity. Only twelve casks of whisky are produced a week, making Edradour a rare pleasure for a fortunate few.
This release was distilled in June 2000, finished in a Port pipe and bottled on 15th September 2012.
Reviews for a previous bottling... One of the first wood finishing efforts under Edradour’s new management. Very creamy in texture, with notes of sticky toffee, vanilla fudge, fruit cake, raisin, and burnt almonds. All this sits on a bed of dry, minty, resinous oak. The flavors dovetail nicely, with a soothing, satisfying finish. The port wood finishing adds complexity without dominating.
