Latest Releases from Mosel Master Joh Jos Prum

As arguably the most famous name in the area, Joh. Jos. Prum exemplifies the very finest of what Riesling from the Mosel has to offer. While the Prum family can trace their roots in the Mosel back to 1156, it was Johann Josef Prüm who founded what we know as J.J. Prum in 1911. Katharina Prüm now guides this estate spread over 13.5 hectares of prime slate soils, including plots in the famed vineyards of Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Badstube.

From Kabinett to Goldkap, the 2022 is an exceptional vintage for this historic estate. The wines exhibit remarkable vibrancy and purity, with impressive energy, depth and intensity. Despite a challenging growing season marked by a very warm and dry summer, the team meticulously balanced the wines, picking each parcel just at the right time. Due to the small yields, there is no Auslese Goldkap from Wehlener Sonnenuhr this year, so all the top fruit was used for the white-caps cuvée. Additionally, it is quite rare for the Prüm estate to release Long Goldkapsel into Australia, but this year sees the inclusion of the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese. With no Wehlener Sonnenuhr Goldkap from 2022 and minimal availability from 2021, two Goldkapsel from the estate's museum are also available: the 2018 Wehlener and the 2012 Graacher Himmelreich, a more classic vintage currently showing extremely well.
