A 1988 distillation from Glen Garioch, produced before its 1995 closure when they still used peated barley at the distillery. According to one report, "The peat has mellowed into a gently herbal and tea-like character, backed up by fruit and chocolate."
Official notes read: "...a herbal nose with notes of gingerbread, black tea and cocoa powder. Oranges on the palate, with stewed apples and a hint of Turkish delight. Long grassy finish with a hint of coffee. 223 bottles produced. Comes beautifully presented in a gloss lacquered presentation box. Hunter Laing's Old & Rare name signifies rare single cask malts bottled at their flavour peak. Whether it was the water, the wood, or even the location in the warehouse, circumstances have conspired to create a sublime drinking experience which can never be repeated.
