1992 Chateau de Laubade Bas Armagnac (700ml)
Château de Laubade's 1992 was bottled in 2020 as a twenty eight year old. While the nose requires some coaxing to blow off the notes of varnish and shellac, the palate is immediately expressive: A full-bodied arrangement of fruit and nut cake, dry Madeira, wood spice, vanilla and pepper flavours that continue at length and remain balanced throughout. If you are looking for an introduction to the pleasures of well-aged Armagnac, start here. Comes beautifully presented in a hardwood box. 40% Alc./Vol. Very limited stocks.
More than eighty different vintages are currently being matured in Laubade’s cellars. The oldest vintage is from 1888. Each year tells a story dealing with the ongoing climate changes, cask quality and the cellar's temperature - all of which define the vintage identity. A culmination of rich know-how and dedication to quality from three generations, the Lesgourgues family continue to run their own 260 acre property. Planted to Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche & Baco, each variety is distilled separately. Notably, Laubade remains alone in coopering their own Gascon oak casks. Sustainable agriculture is also the standard here (manure is produced by 600 ewes).
