1994 Grant Burge Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon
Grant Burge has aspirations to produce exceptional Australian red, with his Meshach positioned as a potential rival to Grange. The Shadrach is about Cabernet Sauvignon and Burge sources top parcels of fruit to produce a sophisticated multi layered wine. The two Cabernet components have different qualities - the Barossa fruit being riper and more plumy, whilst the fruit from Coonawarra adds length and astringency. Deep brick red colour. Rich ripe plum and blackcurrant/spice nose with cedar oak in the background. The palate flavours are superb and beautifully integrated. Lighter in weight than the 1993, the wine displays great depth of flavour and persistence. Fine grained tannin structure and very long cedar, plum and chocolate aftertaste. Cellar 5 - 8 years.
