1995 Pol Roger Champagne

The 1995 Pol Roger is an outstanding Champagne, being regarded as the best vintage since 1990. On a stylistic basis, the wine is comparable to the superb 1988, showing exceptional quality and finesse. Pol Roger does not produce a vintage Champagne every year, thus ensuring that only wine from very good to excellent years are produced each decade. The blend consists of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The wine pours beautifully, with generous creamy white mousse followed by very fine persistent bead. Pale gold colour. The nose has that magnificent distinctive yeast lees autolysis character filled with notes of biscuit, yeast lees and cashew. A classic Pol Roger sniff. The creamy palate texture displays strong toast, citrus and lees flavours with exceptional length and finesse. Crisp but perfectly balanced acidity. Very long aftertaste of yeast lees and biscuit. A wonderful Champagne.
