1995 St. Huberts Cabernet Sauvignon
1995 was not an easy vintage in the Yarra Valley, yet vineyards that practice tight viticultural regimes and adjust crop levels to suit the conditions are capable of producing first class wines - as in all things there are exceptions. St. Huberts have made a substantial commitment to top quality new oak and the results are very apparent.Opaque crimson colour with mauve purple edges. The nose is very impressive, with uplifted mulberry, blackcurrant and cedar spice aromas with a hint of liquorice. The palate displays excellent weight, although not quite as robust as the 94, and considerable complexity reflecting the nose - Mulberry, liquorice and blackcurrant flavours abound - Superb oak integration and excellent balance. Fine firm tannins, cellar 8 - 10 years. This wine has been awarded 3 gold medals to date.
