1997 Chateau Guiraud 1er Cru Sauternes (375ml)
This wine was tasted in a half bottle, and is showing good development. Brilliant golden colour. Superb nose, with notes of apricot, caramel, spice and honey filling the head. The palate displays excellent concentration and botrytised character. Flavours of honey, apricot, spice and orange marmalade emerge, with nuances of toffee and caramel emerging on the back palate. Aftertaste of citrus, apricot, marmalade and honey.
Cellar 4-5 years – half bottle - (2008-2009)
Alc/Vol: 13.5%
Other Reviews...
The medium gold-colored 1997 Guiraud exhibits a fat, foursquare personality with copious quantities of orange marmalade, melted butter, and lychee nut notes. Buttered white corn flavors make an appearance in this corpulent, full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. It is a mouth-filling, well-endowed, hefty style of Sauternes. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025. 92 points
