1997 Rest & Be Thankful Glenlossie 18 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

With historical ties to Bruichladdich, independent bottlers, 'Rest & Be Thankful' have had a strong focus on Islay. More recently they've expanded the range to include other notable distilleries.

All the whiskies are non-chill filtered and colouring free. Built in 1876, Glenlossie sits adjacent to Mannochmore, built in 1971. It's traditionally been highly regarded by blenders. The tasting was limited to a 20ml sample - just enough to paint the picture and recommend.

Tasting note: Drawn from a Bourbon cask. Pale straw gold. Floral aromas of cup cake, short bread, poached pear and deep vanilla. Nicely balanced with semi sweet-yet-fresh flavours and a creamy yet peppery, vanilla, cedary oak and poached pear finish. Intense and pure. Medium long.
