1998 Lady of the Glen Glen Grant Single Cask #9711 23 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: Matured for over two decades in a refill cask, Glen Grant's fruity style gets an extra layer from a finishing in a fresh oloroso hogshead. The result presents a tension between restrained, drier styled aromas like walnut shells, cigar wrappers, rolling tobacco and dark chocolate against light vanilla and the distillate's latent fruitiness. Very much settled into its skin after two decades, the balance and mouthfeel are almost seamless. Flavours of orange spice cake, hints of marzipan and late dried fruits are rounded off with drying cocoa. Be patient, it's a bit of slow burn experience. After the third or fourth visit the pennies start to drop. 50.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 307 bottles.
