1999 Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon

This wine is made from vines planted in 1990 on their own root stocks in light, sandy, well drained soils. Brilliant pale gold colour with water like hue. Aroma of honey and toast followed by a hint of dry hay and sherbert end notes. The acidity remains quite lively, with flavours of citrus, lemon and honey emerging and toast qualities still developing. Aftertaste of lemon and confectionary.

Bright green-straw; fine, floral lemon juice aromas, as much akin to Riesling as Semillon; brilliantly fresh, fine, long and lingering mouthfeel.  Bottles as good as this one are to die for.  Gold medal Sydney Wine Show '06.
