2001 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Semillon Chardonnay

A well made Commercial wine. Bright, pale gold colour. Aroma of butterscotch, spice and tropical fruit. The palate is relatively light, with a touch of herbaceousness over a butterscotch, tropical fruit and biscuit background. Crisp acid finish. Butterscotch, tropical fruit aftertaste.
Cellar 1-2 years (2002-2003).

A well made commercial wine. Bright pale gold colour. On the nose, the Chardonnay is the dominant component, with notes of peach, melon, tropical fruit, butterscotch and yeast lees notes. The Chardonnay also dominates the palate, with peach and spice flavours over a subtle grassy background. The wine is just beginning to broaden out. Soft acid finish, followed by aftertaste of tropical fruit, peach and citrus.
