2001 St. Huberts Cabernet Merlot
St Huberts is an award winning cool climate winery whose wines display the classic regionalcharacteristics of the acclaimed Yarra Valley. St Huberts helped lead the charge to re-establishthe Yarra Valley as a premium grape-growing region and the vineyard has a history dating back to the 1860s. Today’s vineyards were replanted in 1966 to concentrate on the premium varieties that are now included in this range.
A very warm January preceded a cool and dry autumn in 2001, conditions that enabled healthycrops of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to ripen beautifully in the Yarra Valley. The majorparcels of this blend are from the St Huberts vineyard, one of the oldest in the Yarra. The blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot.
Tasting Note: Garnet tones colour. The nose displays the aromas of cherry, blackberry and clove. These scents develop into soft flavours of cherries, briary fruit and earthy tones on amedium bodied palate. A backbone of spicy oak supports this elegant wine.
