The Heathcote Estate is located next door to Ron Laughton’s Jasper Hill, in Drummond Lane. The vineyard is a joint venture between Robert Kirby (Village Roadshow) and Louis Bialkower (the lawyer who founded Yarra Ridge, before selling out to Mildara). This is the first release from very young vines, and shows the potential of the vineyard.
Outstanding opaque black purple mauve colour. Aroma of vanilla, violets, blackberry and spice – an impressive start. The palate structure is well formed, with very good primary fruit flavour. Vanilla, liquorice, blackberry and toasted oak followed by nuances of white and black pepper on the back palate. Fine grained, dryish tannins, with very long vanilla, blackberry and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2006-2007)
