2002 Summerfield Tradition Cabernet Merlot

The Summerfield Tradition consists of a blend of Cabernet and Merlot. The colour is a total saturation of black crimson hues – it is doubtful any more colour could possibly have been extracted. The nose is lifted with aroma of cedar, spice and blackcurrant followed by a touch of tobacco as an end note. The palate is like the nose, a concentrate of flavours, with blackcurrant and liquorice dominant followed by a touch of cedar and white pepper. The tannins are fine and dry – quite necessary for the density of fruit flavour. The complexity is yet to build. Back palate flavours of mocha and white pepper emerge which continues into the aftertaste.
