2004 Clarendon Hills Piggott Range Vineyard Syrah
The colour is black purple with purple hue, clinging to the walls of the glass with a paint like grip. The nose is lifted with superb violet top notes followed by a hint of confectionary, cedar and white pepper. The palate delivers good weight and depth of flavours with plum, blackberry and cedar evident over a white pepper background. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of plum and blackberry.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

A superstar effort in 2004, the inky/purple-colored SyrahPiggottRange reveals off-the-chart richness, complexity, and intensity. This old vineyard, planted on rocky shale and slate soils, produced a floral-scented Syrah exhibiting a distinctive minerality along with wonderful blackberry and cassis fruit, and a hint of wood. The mid-palate and finish are both long, textured, and intense. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age, and should keep for a minimum of 2 decades.
