2004 Croser Pinot Chardonnay Brut
The blend is composed of 88% Pinot Noir and 12% Chardonnay. The wine opens very well with a rich creamy head, which holds for some time. Fine bead with very good persistence. Straw colour base wine. Aroma of yeast lees and winter strawberry. Quite dry palate – very much an aperitif style. Flavours of grapefruit and nuances of lemon and yeast lees, over a light biscuit background. Clean very crisp finish.
Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 13%
Other Reviews…
It's a sign of the times that this wine is significantly cheaper than many of the super-premium Australian sparkling wines, once it was one of the most expensive. A blend of 68% pinot noir and 32% chardonnay, it has flourished in bottle over the past year, still with flowery blossom and brioche aromas, but more weight and length to the palate, and the lingering, dry finish.
