2004 Dowie Doole Chenin Blanc

We were rushed to taste this wine a couple of days after bottling as the proprietors desired to be amongst the first of the 2004 white wine releases. The wine was satisfactory but without the pungency of the previous vintages. The sample was re-submitted some weeks later (the wine having settled down after bottling) and we are happy to report a considerable bounce back of flavours. Brilliant straw colour with pale straw hue. Lifted nose displaying a grassy herbaceous top note followed by notes of green apple and spice. Excellent palate weight, with notes of green and baked apple emerging over a grassy background. Crisp finish. Very long aftertaste of baked apple.
Cellar 1-2 years (2005-2006).
