2004 Lady of the Glen Port Dundas Single Cask #73895 17 Year Old Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: Normally matured in Bourbon barrels, Lady of the Glen take single grain whisky in a new direction with a twelve month finishing in oloroso casks. This Port Dundas shows a rummy aspect on the nose, followed by the usual grain vanillas, intensified by dried apricots and fig jam. Soft and sensual on entry with a burst of dried apricots and warming spirit. Sweet grain vies with oloroso at the finish which has a drying influence, almost clashing. Overall, the sherry gives the whisky a slightly 'maltier' feel and it works unexpectedly well - adding substance and interest to what might otherwise have being just another grain. 58.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 603 bottles.
