2005 Rhum J.M. Chateau du Tariquet Armagnac Cask Finish Agricole Rum (500ml)

An interesting combination of bourbon input (8 years in barrel) followed by finishing in a 228 litre x Armagnac cask makes for an unusual agricole experience.

Tasting notes: Polished copper colour. Armagnac dominates the nose with fruit mince pie, clove and cinnamon over fresh raisin / dried apricot-like notes. Second pass detects dark chocolate and orange zest. The vibrancy and freshness of the agricole carries brandy-like flavours suggesting fruit mince pie and marzipan. Concludes mildly tannic with bourbon soaked oak, light glace cherry and brandy cream sauce shining in the aftertaste. Better the second time around - the 2004 edition was a little overwhelmed by oak. 460 bottles produced. 41.5% Alc./Vol.
