2004 Watershed Awakening Chardonnay

Brilliant pale straw colour with waterlike hue. The nose has good aromatics – 80% of the wine being fermented in oak, whilst the balance was fermented in stainless steel giving the wine another layer of flavour. There is a hint of roast almond on the nose, followed by hazelnut, cashew, yeast lees and fig notes. Creamy palate texture – dry palate, with flavours of yeast lees, hazelnut and almonds over a fig background. Very good length. Soft acid finish. Aftertaste of hazelnut, yeast lees and cashew, with just a hint of citrus emerging.
