2005 Croser Sparkling Brut
This clean aperitif style sparkling has been made from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Creamy mousse, moderate length, with fine bead showing very good persistence. Straw colour base wine. The nose is subtle, with top note of hazelnut followed by cashews and yeast lees. Elegant palate flavours – creamy texture with flavours of light grapefruit and light lees. Clean acid finish. Light grapefruit aftertaste.
Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012)

First it was Salinger to topple from its throne, now it's Croser, like Salinger, well down the price totem pole it once headed. A blend of 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay from the Piccadilly Valley subregion of the Adelaide Hills, it is - as always - supremely elegant and understated, but has a little more mid-palate fruit than some prior vintages, and has particularly good length.
