2007 Hazelburn 13 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - 2021 Release
In the last few decades, Springbank's small batch policy has resulted in one thrilling bottling after another. On the downside are small outturns, which usually means these don't last long on the shelves. 1997 saw the first distillation of Hazelburn which is triple distilled and made from entirely unpeated, air dried barley. The initial release as an eight year old in 2005 was so successful that all 6,000 bottles sold out within a matter of weeks.
This 2007 edition is already sold out in the UK. Bottled in April 2021, it was drawn from a combination of 75% bourbon and 25% sherry casks. 6300 bottles were produced. Though technically unpeated, we often detect a thread of smoke in Hazelburn bottlings. It's reportedly passed through the stills after the heavily peated Longrow run, so this could explain the residual effect. The Australian allocations are so small, this is limited to one bottle per customer. 48.6% Alc./Vol.
