A floral heather-honey note develops with mild waxiness, understated nashi pear and cigar box. Comes together on the palate in a beautifully rounded expression, stylistically, a little less honey-malt richness and slightly more peat. The complex of smokey-fruity-waxy-coastal succulence at the finish is simply mouthwatering. Deft citrus raises the vibrancy. No need to add water as the balance is already flirting with perfection. Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Sweet, vibrant and very fresh on the confectionary style nose. Vanilla, honey and toffee initially from the bourbon cask leaving its mark before a wave of citrus zest and light smoke notes take over. Palate: The sweetness translates to the palate but this time it is more oak and peat laden. Also, now more sophisticated with a honeycomb and chocolate character. late spice notes of cinnamon and allspice tone down the sweetness a little. Finish: Long, with the smoke and peaty notes coming to the fore. A touch buttery and a mocha character remain along notes of oak char, pineapple and honey on toast.
