2008 De Saint-Gall Orpale Blanc de Blancs Champagne Premier Cru - Clearance
The largest vineyard owners in the Cote des Blancs, Champagne de Saint-Gall is the creation of the Cooperative Union Champagne, founded in 1966, which consists of growers who only hold Premier & Grand Cru Vineyards. Orpale is the flagship wine of the producer, known for its complexity and finesse. Made only in vintage years, this Blanc de Blancs uses grapes from one of the finest Côte des Blancs plots, with some kept from malolactic fermentation to preserve their fresh, mineral character. The result is an elegant Champagne with layered aromas, a refined palate, and a lasting finish—truly exceptional.

Complex aromas of quince, dried mango, honey, toasted almond and gingerbread. It’s full-bodied and vinous with creamy, soft bubbles and bright acidity. Toasty and layered. Long, dense and flavorful. Delicious now.

This is a beautifully mature Champagne, with ripe Chardonnay from the Côtes de Blancs now just hinting at toastiness. The wine's freshness is still apparent so that the balance with maturity is just right. Drink this fine wine now, but also age.
