2008 Rustenberg John X Merriman Dry Red Blend

This wine is made from a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec and was matured in a combination of 35% new and 65% second and third use French oak barrels for 20 months. Opaque black dark crimson red colour with deep dark red hue. Good perfumed lift with blackcurrant, ripe mulberry and cedar top notes followed by some cigar box and light spice. Medium to full bodied the palate displays good richness with flavours of ripe blackcurrant, cigar box, cedar and spice. Firm, slightly dryish but balanced tannins with medium to long blackcurrant, earth, cigar box and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2015-2016).
