Re-tasted 20/10/2017:
The colour shows no visible signs of the wines age displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark red black hue. Heady aromas of ripe blackberries, liquorice and dark chocolate waft out of the glass over a back drop of vanillin oak, subtle earth and spicy mocha. Enormous weight and richness along with a liqueur like concentration and textural feel are the hallmarks of this big McLaren Vale Shiraz. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe black cherries, liquorice and blackberries explode across the palate with an undercard of earthy vanillin oak, leather and spice. There’s some heat on the finish but for those who like their reds at the big end of town it shouldn’t prove too much of a distraction. Ripe opulent tannins. Exceptional power with a very long aftertaste of black cherries, liquorice, blackberries, vanillin oak, earthy leather and spice.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

Totally opaque black crimson colour with deep black crimson hue. The nose displays aromas of black plums, liquorice, blackberry and confectionary. Full bodied, well endowed and super rich the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, dark plums, ripe blackberry and confectionary with some spiciness on the back palate. Very fine grained tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry, confectionary and spice.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2010-2014).
