2008 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the 53rd vintage of Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon produced. Wynns claims that this wine is made using only the top 20-25% of the estates Cabernet Sauvignon fruit available with maturation taking place in a combination of 31% new French oak, 53% seasoned French oak, 2% new American oak and 14% seasoned American oak for a period of 17 months.
2008 is proving to be an exceptional year for Coonawarra Cabernet and like many of its counterparts tasted thus far this wine opens up with outstanding opaque black crimson colour and black crimson hue. The nose displays lifted scents of ripe blackcurrant and mulberry followed by some cedar, spice and a faint hint of cigar box. Medium to full bodied the palate boasts superb concentration and depth with mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant, cassis, cedar and spice followed by some emerging cigar box characters on the back palate. Very fine grained, perfectly integrated tannins with long aftertaste of blackcurrant, spice and cedar.
Cellar 4-5 years (2014-2015).
