Chris Ringland stands at the summit of world Shiraz producers (Robert Parker places him in the same league as Guigal, Chapoutier and Roman Bratasiuk of Clarendon Hills). Most will know Ringland for his part in Rockford wines. He presently has his hand in several pies, including as winemaker for several overseas projects in both Italy and Spain. The wine has been matured in a combination of American and French oak hogsheads for twenty months.
Super saturated inky black colour – totally impenetrable with a very deep black dark red hue. The nose is very perfumed displaying great intensity with aromas of black plum, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice. The palate delivers an extraordinary level of richness and decadence for it’s price point delivering layer upon layer of opulent fruit that completely saturates the palate. Ripe blackberry, black plum, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours are followed by some spice on the back palate. Velvet smooth tannins, possessing a liqueur like texture without the faintest hint of heat on the finish – perfectly balanced. Very long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, liquorice, vanilla and spice.
