2010 Claxton's Exploration Series Dalrymple 11 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Here's one you don’t see too much of: Dalrymple is the trading name for teaspooned Girvan single malt from the Grant's owned distillery, Ailsa Bay. Based in the Lowlands, it's on the same site where Ladyburn once stood. The profile is chocolatey throughout. An 'old fashioned' nose opens slightly dusty and leathery but follows with honey and hazelnut chocolate. Already tasting mature, the palate unfolds with a thread of cocoa and sweet malt weaving in and out of the spicier notes, especially at the finish where light honey and nougat enter. A charming and elegant whisky resembling high quality Glen Elgin or perhaps, Balvenie, the ruby port finishing is unobtrusive. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
