2010 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Caol Ila 12 Year Old Sassicaia Cask Finished Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

From the entry-level to the top end, Caol Ila is invariably included in Gordon & MacPhail's offerings. This particular release seems to be something of a tradition. Part of the Wood Finished sub-series in the Connoisseurs Choice range, after 11 years in refill Bourbon casks it spent one year in some particularly active x-Sassicaia casks (one of Tuscany's most prestigious red wines). It's then bottled without chill-filtration or colouring, culminating in a whisky filled with notes of cured meats, cranberries and spices, with zesty citrus, bonfire embers and the signature smoke of Caol Ila. In July 2023, the final outturn was 3900 bottles at 45% Alc./Vol.
