Kalleske’s Greenock Shiraz is a single vineyard wine produced from low yielding Shiraz vines on the Kalleske estate at Greenock, in the North-Western Barossa Valley. Cuttings for these vines originate from a vineyard planted on the property in the late 1800s.

2010 was an outstanding vintage in the Barossa – one of the best of the decade according to winemaker Troy Kalleske. It was a steady vintage with ideal warm Autumn days and cool nights. Fruit ripened perfectly and was picked at optimum times. This superb example of Greenock Shiraz was matured in a combination of American and French oak hogsheads for 18 months. Outstanding colour saturation – totally opaque black purple colour with very deep black dark purple hue. Showing excellent intensity the nose exhibits lifted aromas of dark blackberry, ripe plum and dark chocolate bullets followed by some vanillin mocha like characters. Full and rich the palate is overflowing with opulent dark fruit flavours of ripe blackberry and dark plum followed by some dark chocolate and a touch of liquorice with some vanillin oak on the back palate. Voluptuously textured with velvet smooth tannins. Superb depth with long persistent ripe blackberry, dark plum, dark chocolate and liquoricy vanillin spice aftertaste.
