2011 Claxton's Warehouse No.8 Ledaig 11 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Needs coaxing before lazy scents of cocoa-smothered peat begin to drift out of the glass. The palate has an instant and more visceral effect. Heavyweight stuff, specially angled towards the cured meat and bbq rub crowd with a nod to Mezcal too. The malt feels chunky in the mouth with a tannic grip. A firecracker with everything happening at once. Even for Ledaig this is huge. Matured in an Oloroso sherry octave. 68 bottles only. 58.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Very limited stocks.

Notes from the bottlers... NOSE: Icing sugar. Root beer. Oak smoked cheese and meats. PALATE: Sherry infused peat smoke with sweet oak and liquorice root. FINISH: More smoked meatiness and cheese in the long aftertaste.
