2011 Lady of the Glen Benrinnes Single Cask #302606 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: Of several sherry influenced whiskies in Lady of the Glen's latest outturn, this one seems to have been drawn from the most aggressive cask. It's also one of the darkest. Prunes and bitter dark chocolate are evident on the nose (as is the high ABV). The palate is thick and intense on entry with a nice lick of oloroso; Bitter citrus peel frames the malt along with suggestions of roasted nuts. Some may find the bittersweetness at the finish excessive. The aftertaste leaves a twang of sulphur. A bit of a beast, this one. 56.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 318 bottles.
