The polished mahogany colour with auburn flashes looks spectacular. Deep and brooding, mentholated and vapo-rub-like in the opening passes building sweeter hints of peel heavy marmalade, walnut fudge, coffee cake and burgeoning phenols. Unfolds in a blast of sherry and maritime peat that fills every crevice of the mouth. More coffee cake and dark chocolate. Peppery, but ends on a plump, dried fruit note that's softer, rounder and richer than the mid palate stage. The maritime freshness reverberates through the aftertaste. Great blending. Almost a cross genre malt that could pass as a peaty, un-sweetened and well-aged Demerara rum. 56.9% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 336 bottles.
