2012 E.Guigal Cotes du Rhone
“A smokin’ value…” - Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
A blend of 50% Syrah, 45% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre sourced from vines with an average age of 35 years. Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Exhibiting black cherry and liquorice top notes on the nose, scents of scorched earth, leather, some meatiness and blackpepper follow on. Medium bodied with a juicy generosity to the black raspberry and black cherry fruit the palate also exhibits nuances of liquorice, new leather, subtle scorched earth and pepper. It possesses admirable richness with a slightly chewy finish and fine grained, perfectly integrated tannins. Aftertaste of ripe black cherries, liquorice, subtle scorched earth, new leather and pepper.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
