Another solid example of this ever-reliable make, and with a longer than average three-year finishing in a 'soft' sherry cask. Heavily smoked ham, antiseptic, wild honey and smouldering potpourri feature on the nose. The mouthcoating attack is complexed by a dry, nutty sherry that barely cuts through the peat. Drops of lime juice and hints of grilled pineapple freshen things up, then it's medicinal peat and Fisherman's Friend cough lozenges all the way to the finish. Sherry has integrated the smoke and citrus, adding sophistication, but the profile remains emphatically Islay. 54.8% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered. 316 bottles.
