2012 Lady of the Glen Inchgower Single Cask #804342 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Not especially distinguished by its low-key, fresh grain-store-like aromas, in the mouth this flips into a rich, textural and easily approachable Inchgower with the malt augmented by Virgin oak. The wood is at first slightly assertive and some of the distillery's trademark coastal freshness feels diminished, but the juicy malt recovers with a tangible salted cracker / saline edge at the finish to retain its aperitif standing. It gets better with air contact and holds up well, even with ample water. 57% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the producers... A light distillate with a nutty and waxy character. Matured in a hogshead for the majority of its life before being finished in an American virgin oak barrel for added depth, sweetness and floral notes. The tasting revealed blossom honey, fresh ginger and parma violets.
