2013 Claxton's Exploration Series Caol Ila 9 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Whiffs of rock pools, white pepper and sweet peat reek. Starts off minerally and dry, then middles out in typical oily-citrus fashion. Climaxes in a sparkling finale of spent-tobacco, pepper and peat-laced vanilla. Nice length as chilie chocolate and iodine linger. Also earthy and complex - not unlike some Ledaigs. Yet another peek into the never-ending kaleidoscope of expressions from this distillery. Matured in a hogshead. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
