2013 Gleann Mor Spirits Company Rare Find Mortlach 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Mortlach is nicknamed The Beast of Speyside and is often described as "meaty", which builds expectations for a high-impact, chew-your-way-through malt. But not all bottlings express that character. This is getting very close to the kind of thing they’re talking about, particularly in the later stages as the beefy texture gains momentum, climaxing in a deep, warming finish. The bottler has done his job delivering a welcome departure from the official Diageo bottlings which tend to be more restrained and not really very beastly at all. Distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 after an extended finish in an ex-d'Arenberg (Australian) Shiraz cask, a few handfuls have been imported to Australia. No chill-filtration or colouring. 59.3% Alc./Vol. 300 bottles released. Tasted from a 30ml sample.
