2013 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Shiraz
A rich, rock like structured McLaren Vale Shiraz with loads of potential.
This Shiraz is certified organic and is sourced from 14-18 year old vines with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 13 months of which 25% was new. Displaying outstanding colour it possesses an inky black heart with a very deep dark purple black hue. Nosing yields aromas of liquorice, black cherries and peppered meats with a hint of black olive and some vanillin cedar also present. Rich but tightly wound and chewy in structure this is going to require some patience before we see its full potential. Flavours of blackberries, black cherries and liquorice are followed by vanillin cedar, meaty characters and pepper. Dry finish with a firm assertive tannin structure. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, black cherries, black olives, vanillin cedar and pepper.

12 vineyard blocks; 50% whole berries, 20% whole bunches, open-fermented. Deep, but bright crimson-purple; this is full-bodied McLaren Vale shiraz at its very best, not the least extractive or clumsy, simply complex, the result of top quality fruit and highly intelligent winemaking. Drink by 2038.

Whole berries. Whole bunches. Wild yeast. All French oak, only 20% new.
Deep flavour. But lively. This is terrific drinking. Rich and generous but honed and architectural. Plums, blackberries, saltbush and a swoosh of cedarwood. A touch of red-fruited brightness. Cracking wine.
