2014 Adelaide Hills Chardonnay Cleanskin
Over the last decade or two the Adelaide Hills region has established itself as South Australia’s premier district for the production of Chardonnay with the likes of Shaw & Smith and Petaluma leading the way. Sourcing a sub $10 Chardonnay of quality from Adelaide Hills is a rare find indeed.
Normally sells for $18-20 under its own label – Reduced to only $9.99 as an unlabelled cleanskin.
Brilliant gleaming straw colour with a watery hue. Pronounced aromatics of ripe peaches and pears with a light honeycomb overlay are followed by some lemon butter like notes, citrusy nougat and spice. Light to medium bodied, elegant and possessing a leaner Burgundian like feel with a subtle creaminess to it, the palate has flavours of ripe pears and citrus intermingling with elements of dried honey and lemon butter over a back drop of light toast, cashew and spice. Finishes dry with good fresh acidity and an aftertaste of dried pears, dried honey, nougat, cashew and spice. An excellent everyday quaffing chardy.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 12.5%
